HI, I’M MARIBEL.

WELCOME TO

MY WEBSITE.

Greetings!

I am an award-winning media executive and editorial leader based in Washington, D.C., with 15 years of data-informed, mission-driven media experience.

Much of my career has been dedicated to public broadcasting. I have been curious and passionate about how public media engages newer, younger, and more diverse audiences through a variety of programming, and how it connects them with content and experiences that resonate, are memorable and help people feel seen.

I grew up on PBS, and my dad credits public broadcasting for helping him learn English. Everyone learns differently, and everyone deserves access to accurate, thoughtful, representative educational content that is fun, approachable, and accessible. The job is done well when it helps answer questions, is nuanced, provides context, creates a sense of wonder, and further fuels self-driven exploration and curiosity.

I am a big believer in trying new things, iteration, and innovation. I am also a big believer in doubling down on what works, not making things harder than they need to be, and focusing on the long game while remaining true to myself and those around me.

My joy comes from leading values-driven teams in pursuit of excellence, supporting and empowering them to do their best work and create content that informs, educates, and inspires.

My guiding principles:

  • We’re better when we work together.

  • Knowledge is power.

  • It’s okay to “not know” as long as you’re willing to learn.

  • Most things are figure-outable.

  • Clarity is kindness, and kindness is free.

Thank you for coming by!
